A look at the best budget, big screen, LCD TV.
As is the reality with all technology, innovation leads to prices consistently dropping over time. While early adopters of high end television sets are surely cursing the fact that you can now own a 42 inch LCD TV for under £400, the mass market of laggards and late adopters is doing their personal rendition of the Macarena in celebration.
Just because you’re thinking of buying a relatively cheap LCD TV doesn’t mean you have to skimp on quality. While not quite the lowest priced model, the Samsung LE40c650 is our pick as the best value for money television set.
As the number in the name suggests, the LE40c650 is a 40 inch LCD television. What impresses is the range of connectivity, as it comes with four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, and an Ethernet port. The Ethernet port means that you can gain access to the BBC iPlayer, Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter, among others. Good fun.
The LE40c650 features quite a good range of setting adjustments. Notably it features a 10-point white balance adjustement, for optimizing grayscale adsjustments, as well as motion processing, and controller of gamma setting parameters.
The HD picture might not be the best, but you have to remember, you haven’t gone and spent top dollar on this model. A positive is definitely how well it handles up scaling from standard definition pictures.
Overall you are getting quite a great value for your money. Again, the television delivers a very solid picture, and for the price you can’t complain that it has a few minor short comings. If you want a big screen, HD TV but don’t want to break the bank, this model is for you.
