Best Thing About Winter? Possibly Obsidian’s Fallout Vegas

There are good and bad features in every season. Spring brings rebirth and allergies; summer brings sun tans and sunburns. Winter has its own faults and charms as well.

Besides the obvious freezing cold, I tend to incur the wrath of the mould gods every winter. But, we’re adaptable creatures and have created sunblock, Claritin and dehumidifiers like the DeLonghi DES12, which I plan on looking into by the end of this month.

One of the great things about winter is the release of all the fun gadgets and video games for Christmas. This has been a very busy and fulfilling gaming year with the release and anticipated releases of God of War 3, Bioshock2, Super Street Fighter, Dead Rising 2, the Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare DLC, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and of course Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game I was really looking forward to was the newest Fallout in the series, Fallout Vegas.

I’ve played the first Fallout which, once I played it, was everything I was looking for in an RPG at the time. I downloaded it recently just because I missed it. I’ve also played the first console release Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, but I remember not being very impressed after the first 3 or 4 hours. After that I didn’t get a chance to play another Fallout game, but it was always in my heart. I haven’t opened my Fallout New Vegas yet, and I half wish that I could have found a used and cheap Playstation 3 version because I’ve heard some disparaging comments about Obsidian not being the best game developers.  Still, as long as they give me the hilarious dialogue, innovative weapon collection and engaging storyline I remember loving in the series, I’ll be happy. 5 million copies worldwide must mean its decent right? I’d like to know what you think about New Vegas.

About Jeffrey H.

Hi my name is Jeff Hughes. I grew up watching British TV (probably a little too young to have been watching Black Adder) and particularly enjoy watching Hugh Laurie on the screen. I studied British and American Literature at University but I wish I had been reading comic books the whole time. I enjoy pubs because I believe you can’t drink on an empty stomach. I also like cats.
