Best Sat Navs for Your iPhone

I’ll admit, the iPhone has changed things.  With a pre-installed 5-megapixel, satnav, video player, internet capabilities, and a slew of other features, somehow the term “smartphone” just doesn’t seem to cut it.  The GPS resources are among the iPhone’s most impressive, but with a wide variety of products on the market, it’s difficult to choose which one to use.  If you’re looking for an upgrade to your iPhone’s “Maps” app, here are three of the best sat navs available for download today.

1.    NDrive for iPhone – At only £9.99, this app is simple and affordable.  The maps are very clear and the NDrive’s advanced search engine allows you to search by address as well as category, name, distance, recent searches, favourites, and more.  This is the quick and dirty navigation app for the iPhone, and it’s a great value.
2.    Navigon Mobile Navigator British Isles – The price tag (£53) is hefty, but the navigation tends to be spot on and the voice commands clear and concise.  A bonus is the clever parking feature, which will show you parking spots in the area prior to arriving at your destination.  It’s the first GPS app to be made available for the iPhone, and it remains one of the best.
3.    TomTom v1.0 – TomTom sat navs are generally regarded as being the finest on the market, and this mobile version is no exception.  While the price (about £60) is a concern, the app’s IQ Routes technology is guaranteed to direct you to your destination using the fastest route at any time.  Throw in great menu design and a night mode for easier reading in the dark, and you’ve got an app that rivals not only the best of the TomTom stand alone line, but also the highly regarded Garmin Nuvi 205wt.

While you can’t go wrong with any of these apps, I recommend the TomTom for the very best navigation available today.

About Jeff O.

Got a music question? Put it here, I got ya. I'm a Yank with a discerning eye and a taste for Robbie Williams power ballads. In real non-internet life I'm a fickle shopper, but put me in the online arena and I'll do work. I may even give you one of those cool intricate handshakes we Americans are famous for.
