News broke this week that Orange and Apple have agreed a deal that means the mobile services provider will be stocking the iPhone before Christmas.
Shortly after that, it emerged that Vodafone UK is to sell the popular handset alongside its tariffs, ending O2's two-year exclusive agreement.
Price war
This can only be good news. The more providers that are carrying the iconic handset, the better the tariffs are likely to be as they fight to win customers.
Unfortunately, Vodafone will not be stocking the popular handset until next year, so anyone hoping for a three-way price war in time to drop costs before December will be disappointed.
Still, with two providers competing for Christmas customers, there should be more choice for shoppers.
Tariffs
So far, neither Orange nor Vodafone have revealed what price they would place on the handset and tariff.
In 2007, when the iPhone/O2 exclusive first hit the shops, people were paying around £270 for the handset and agreeing 18-month contracts costing anything between £35 and £55 a month.
