Compare G2 Touch Deals
The G2 Touch (or Hero, depending on the operator) from HTC is a tech-lover’s dream. It features Android, the Google-backed open source operating system which is set to become ubiquitous in the mobile phone market over the next year or two. Part of HTC’s “Sense” initiative, the Touch’s interface enables your information to be brought directly to their fingertips, much like HTC's TouchFlo 3D does for the Windows Mobile platform.
It has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with HVGA resolution (320 x 480 pixels), a 5 megapixel camera and, hurrah!, a standard 3.5mm headphone port. The Touch is a 3G HSDPA handset for fast internet connection - Wifi for “hotspot” wireless and WLAN use, plus Bluetooth for short-range wireless data transfer – and USB for cabled interchanges. The full gamut of messaging options (SMS, MMS, instant messaging, email) is augmented by social networking updates, while Web pages appear much as they would on a PC, with Flash support.
Along with a contact’s details, you are given all the ways to get in touch, plus emails, past conversations with them and status updates or new photos on social networking sites.
All the usual suspects and more are there - except voice dialling - from quad-band roaming, accelerometer sensor for autorotate, handwriting recognition and trackball to A-GPS support: a truly remarkable piece of technology. Battery life is rated at eight hours’ talk time and 440 hours on standby from a full charge.
