The Sony Ericsson W995 in girly pink is a sophisticated Walkman-oriented slider phone for both music and camera aficionados. The 2.6-inch screen (diagonal) and 240 x 320 pixels resolution make for excellence sharpness and clarity.It measures 97mm x 49mm x 15mm thick (with the slide closed) and weighs 113g.
It offers an 8.1 megapixel camera – yes 8.1- with LED flash, smile detection, face detection, and BestPic features; there is also a front camera for two-way video-calling.
This is a quadband phone with 3G HSDPA for video calling, with EDGE for fast data transfer, Bluetooth for short-range wireless transfer and USB for wired.
Both Wi-Fi and GPS (with Google Maps) are built in, along with BBC iPlayer, which offers both “catchup” TV and live streaming. There is an accelerometer for automatic screen rotation in some applications, including the iPlayer.
