Compare C702 Deals

The Sony Ericsson C702 in dramatic black is a departure for Sony: a rugged, outdoor device (Bear Grylls’ phone, possibly?), designed to be splashproof and dust-resistant, and equipped with Assisted-GPS satellite positioning.

There is a 3.2 megapixel still/video camera with face-detection autofocus, 2x digital zoom and photo light. Being Sony, when you’re in the wilderness, you can still get great sounds: the music player supports all the popular formats and comes with TrackID™, MegaBass™ for an enhanced lower range and the PlayNow™ music download service.

A quad-band phone, so capable of global roaming where coverage exists, the C702 has “always on” 3G/HSDPA-speed internet, plus EDGE (2.5G) where 3G is unavailable. Although not of Walkman quality, the music player is fully-featured, plus an FM radio with RDS. You can listen to music with the given headphones or via an optional Bluetooth wireless headset.

A full 150 Mbytes’ internal memory is an excellent start - enough to store around 40 songs – that can be augmented by a Memory Stick Micro or Memory Stick PRO to increase storage to 4 GB. Battery life is rated at up to seven hours’ talk time (GSM); five hours (3G) and 300 hours on standby from a full charge.
