Compare D880 Duos Deals

The Samsung D880 Duos or Dual is notable for having two Sim cards available at any one time. The primary SIM card carries out all the usual phone functions, while the secondary SIM maintains an active line so you can still receive calls on that number. When a call comes in, the screen displays the name of the SIM card being used, so you could have one for business and the other for everything else, for example.

A dedicated switch gives access to the SIM management settings – note that the phone reboots whenever you switch primary cards. The primary card supports tri-band GSM roaming, while the secondary SIM supports dual-band calls and messaging.

At 104 x 51 x 18.9mm, the D880 is quite chunky to hold, with large control buttons and a good tactile response. The 2.3-inch TFT LCD display sits above a slide-out keypad. There is a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels for some good snapping possibilities.

Data transfer is via GPRS/EDGE, reliant on the now old Openwave browser, with Bluetooth 2.0 for short-range wireless. Among the usual personal organiser functions, there is an MP3 player and FM radio.

Internal memory is 40 Mbytes, which can be augmented via a microSD card. Battery life is rated at seven hours’ talk time or 10 days on standby from a full charge.  A somewhat niche market device with its dual SIMs, targeting travellers and those with a complex business and non-business existence, but one that delivers the goods in that regard.
