The Samsung B2700 in dramatic black is designed with the outdoors in mind, in a protective rubbery, water-resistant casing and a large, very practical keypad. It may not look pretty, but it is highly effective as a phone, messenger and modest internet provider. There is a music player supporting the popular file formats and the utility broom cupboard is pretty full: voice recorder, document viewer, A2DP Bluetooth (for a wireless headset), calendar, memo, tasks, world clock, calculator, currency converter, timer, stopwatch and alarm functions, plus some trial games.
With only 26 Mybtes’ internal memory, the card slot for up to 8GB will be mandatory for any serious user. For anyone likely to give their mobile a few bumps, drops and scrapes and for whom communication is more important than pure style, it is a serious contender.
