Compare N95 Deals

The Nokia N95 is a feature-rich, best-selling smartphone with a large (2.6-inch) 240 x 320 pixels resolution screen and, in some versions, with Nokia’s Comes With Music service.

Rather chunky, but still extremely stylish, the N95 is a multimedia mammoth with a double slider feature that may or may not be your “thing”. Quad-band for potential global roaming, it has 3.5G/HSDPA internet connectivity backed up by GPRS/EDGE, with Wi-fi for hotspot/WLAN connectivity, infra-red and Bluetooth for short-range wireless data transfer.

The N95 had the first phone camera to hit the 5 megapixel mark, featuring Carl-Zeiss optics and Tessar lenses, plus autofocus and flash. The video camera is also outstanding, recording in VGA resolution (640 x 480 pixels) at up to 30 fps with stereo audio. There is also a second front-facing camera for making video calls. It has no lens cover, so while it won’t be activated accidentally in your pocket, it is more vulnerable to scratching.

It also broke new ground in having a GPS system built into the phone, communicating directly with the satellite: bit old hat now, but it was funky at the time. The N95 has the usual plethora of utilities including speakerphone and a standadrd 3.5 mm jack so you can use your own choice of headset.

Internal memory is 160 Mbytes, plus support for additional card storage up to 8GB (in contrast to the 8GB version which has no card slot). Battery life is rated at six hours’ GSM talk time or 215 hours on standby from a full charge.
