A beautiful “S” shape in meandering chrome marks out the Nokia 7260’s Art Deco style finish, with coordinated carrying pouch and strap. It is a tri-band monoblock phone with a limited feature set, but a significant fashion item. The colour display, although small and only 128 x 128 pixel resolution, is nevertheless bright and clear.

There is a VGA camera with video recording and “night mode”, but expectations of picture quality should be moderate. The 7260 surprisingly does not offer a music player, but there is an FM radio. At 105 x 45 x 18 mm, the 7260 is comfortable in the palm and light at 92g.

Internet connectivity is via HSCSD and EGPRS, with SMS, MMS, instant messaging and email messaging options. Utilities include a hands-free speaker, voice recorder and voice dialling. As a bizarre “fashion” touch, there is a shoe-size converter and a mobile wallet to store contact numbers and passwords. There is no Wi-fi or Bluetooth, but there is infrared and the quaint Nokia Pop-Port cable (superseded by USB) to connect external devices such as stereo speakers.

Battery life is rated at three hours’ talk time or 14 days on standby from a full charge.
