Motorola's EM325 slider packs in a few essential music phone features into its sleek (101 x 46 x 13.9 mm), ultra-light (85g) body. When open, you use the keypad, when closed you access features via an external navigation wheel and keys. You can view the screen whether the slide is open or closed – a 1.8 Inch TFT colour display of modest resolution (128 x 160 pixels).

Web connectivity is via GPRS and the WAP browser, supporting MMS, EMS and, of course, basic SMS messaging options. You can share pictures with other compatible multimedia messaging contacts by sending a message complete with a picture, sound and text.

The camera is a basic 1.3 megapixel model with a 4 x zoom function. The music player supports all popular file formats and the FM radio has RDS (an information feed on the songs being played). An FM share feature allows you to record a short clip from the FM radio which can then be saved to listen to at a later time or to share with an other contact via the messaging service who has a FM-enabled handset.

Other features of the dual-band EM325 include CrystalTalk technology - a noise reduction feature enabling a high quality sound when you are on a call – and a hands-free/speakerphone. A big plus is the 3.5 mm socket, so you can choose your own headset, rather than be forced to use Motorola’s.

Battery life is rated at up to eight hours’ talk time or 330 hours on standby from a full charge.
