The LG Arena KM900 has just about every feature under the sun; whether the obvious compromises that have had to be made mean it is jack of all trades but master of none is a valid concern. A touch sensitive 3-inch screen utilizing capacitive technology dominates over the whole front with 480 x 800 WVGA resolution resolution.
This is uber-touch control: a finger sweep moves you smoothly through an array of home screens; the slightest vibration confirms you have made contact. A 3D user interface comprises four home screens in a cube arrangement: a sweep gets you between application shortcuts, multimedia, contacts and widgets.
With the handset swivelled round longways, the Arena’s accelerometer twists the screen. There is a “floating image gallery: photo thumbnails sit in a carousel that you can flick through.
Internet browsing is fast thanks to HSDPA technology; there is Wi-fi and Bluetooth and a standard 3.5 mm headset jack (and an FM transmitter, so you can send the audio to a car stereo system, for example). It plays DivX and Xvid files as well as all popular music formats. A 5 megapixel camera comes with photo geotagging with an on-screen dial recreating the settings dial on a “real” camera.
The Arena is small and thin (105.9×55.3×11.95 mm) and lightweight, with 8 Gbytes’ internal memory and a microSD card slot.
Battery life is rated at 30 hours’ MP3 playtime and generally considered an improvement on those in other LG models.
