Did you know that the company that is now known as LG Electronics started out life as Goldstar as far back as 1958?

Goldstar is a Korean company that produced the first ever radio for Korea in 1959. By 1962, Goldstar was to exporting radios to the United States and Hong Kong. This led to the company making refrigerators, black and white TVs, washing machines and air conditioners.

Sales were so strong that by 1974 Goldstar had become a plc and the company continued to grow from strength to strength. By 1977, when colour televisions became readily available, Goldstar cemented its position as a market leader by producing its first colour tv set.

By now, the company's turnover had exceeded $100 million and Goldstar began to expand its operation to the US, with Germany. Ireland and China following soon after in Goldstar's expansion. In 1995, the company was renamed LG Electronics.

Today, LG is a world leader in production of mobiles, LCD and Plasma TVs and electronics in genera. LG mobiles are innovative and of a very high manufacturing quality.
