The Huawei U7510 is a 3G-enabled monoblock phone in crimson berry, with smooth curves and attractive big pebble shape. Released in November 2009, it is aimed at the fashion-conscious on a budget and aims to deliver what matches their priorities.

At 108 x 56 x 13.8 mm it hugs the palm and is light at only 56g. Immediately arresting is the 2.8-inch TFT QVGA touchscreen (240 x 320 pixels resolution). It offers fast 3.5G internet browsing and messaging using HSDPA/HSUPA technology, backed up by GPRS/EDGE. There is also Bluetooth for short-range wireless data transfer, with A2DP (enabling you to use a wireless headset). Its messaging options are SMS, MMS and email. For the technically minded, it supports Java MIDP-2.0 and is powered by Qualcomm’s BREW 3.1 platform.

There are two cameras: one on the back of the shell: 2 megapixels for snapshots; one on the front for video calling. It has GPS with Google Maps and has a music player supporting the popular file formats and stereo FM radio with RDS.

Utilities include vibration alert, 1,000 entry-capacity phonebook, speakerphone, voice memo, 30 records received, dialled and missed calls and a selection of games.

Internal memory can be supplemented by a microSD card up to 8GB. Battery life is rated at four hours’ talk time or 380 hours on standby from a full charge.
