Compare TyTN II Deals

The HTC TyTN II is a remarkable feat of engineering, not list for its slide ‘n’ tilt mechanism that reveals the full QWERTY keyboard and props up the 2.8-inch touchscreen TFT QVGA display at a useful angle like a mini-laptop. The TyTN II is not for the faint-hearted: while it measures only 110 x 58 x 18mm and is 4 mm thinner than the original TyTN, it weighs in at 190g. But then, it does pretty much everything a PDA needs to do.

Internet and messaging are taken care of with 3.5G/HSDPA, backed up by GPRS/EDGE where 3G is unavailable, with Windows Mobile 6.0 as its operating system. There is Wi-fi for hotspot and WLAN working and wireless Bluetooth (short-range wireless data transfer). The messaging options are impressive: SMS, MMS and email, while the sat-nav is fast to lock on and reliable.

The TyTN II is a quad-band phone so potentially capable of global roaming. It has a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and a host of utilities from speakerphone to music player (but no radio and it uses a proprietary headset).

Internal memory of 128 Mbytes can be bolstered with a memory card. Battery life is rated at six hours’ talk time or 400 hours on standby from a full charge which, for a PDA with a 400 MHz processor and so many applications, is above average power.
