The HTC Touch Cruise is a 3G/HSDPA-enabled smartphone, capable of full internet browsing and messaging, including emails with attachments. For communications on the move, there is Wi-Fi that picks up the ‘net from hotspots and authorised WLANs. It naturally offers Bluetooth short-range wireless data transfer, too.

At 110 x 58 x 15.5, the Cruise is solid in the palm and comfortably weighty at 135g. HTC’s own TouchFlo technology gives you one-touch access to messages, emails and contacts, scrolling through Web pages and image manipulation: all displayed on the 2.8-inch 240 x 320 resolution screen. It has GPS sat-nav that, linked with any of the popular software on the market (the likes of TomTom and CoPilot Live) and the result is a powerful GPS navigation solution.

A quad-band GSM device capable of global roaming, the Cruise has a fair stab at excellence in all departments. It has a full range of utilities, from speakerphone to alarm and calculator.  The camera is only 3 megapixels, but not long ago that was, itself, remarkable, with autofocus . The music player supports all the popular formats and there is an FM radio.

The internal capacity can be augmented by a memory card in the microSD slot. Battery life is rated at seven hours’ talk time or 450 hours on standby from a full charge.
