Compare iPhone 3GS Deals
As the name suggests, the iPhone 3G S in dramatic black, offers access to the faster 3G wireless network (faster than EDGE’s 2.5G), Microsoft Exchange server e-mail and support for an array (around 35,000) of third-party software from the iPhone App Store. In most respects, it is identical to the iPhone 3G, but up to twice as fast as the 3G and more responsive overall.
In particular the 3G S delivers improved Web performance, application launch speeds and updated 3D graphics. The Safari Web browser consistently delivers speeds of about 300 Kbps to 500 Kbps (dependent on network performance) - Google and Yahoo are even built into it - and can be viewed widescreen. You can make calls simply by tapping the touch- sensitive interface and syncs your contacts from your laptop. Visual voicemail allows you listen to messages in whichever order you like - just like your emails.
At 3.5 inches and 480x320 pixels, the display is the same size as its predecessors, but displays slightly more dots per inch (163 vs.160). It still delivers brilliant colours, sharp graphics and fluid movements. It also gives you more room to type on the intelligent software keyboard - rotate the iPhone 3G S to landscape to use a larger keyboard in Mail, Messages, Notes and Safari.
Naturally, the iPhone 3G/16 GB supports all major music formats, playing music, videos, podcasts and audio books with alacrity, enabling file transfers directly from a PC via iTunes.
The camera is now a 3 megapixel affair taking great photos thanks to built-in autofocus and a handy feature that lets you tap the display to focus on anything. It also enables you to shoot, edit and share video.
Battery life is rated at up to eight hours’ talk time and 250 hours on standby from a full charge.
