Compare OT-708 silver Deals

The Alcatel OT-708 One Touch Mini in striking silver is never going to challenge the HTC Hero or iPhone, but instead provides a taste of the touchscreen experience. Compared to those ground-breaking devices, the 708 touchscreen is undeniably sluggish and small (just 2.4-inches diagonal), but there are plenty of useful apps and services beneath.

With only dual-band GSM (no 3G or even EDGE), Web “browsing” on the 708 was never going to be the most scintillating of experiences, but it can stagger through MMS as well as the usual SMS and there is Bluetooth for short-range wireless data transfer. It supports the popular music file formats and an FM radio with decent sound quality and there are the usual organisational extras, including a calendar and calculator.

The 708 has much to recommend it as a spare phone or one for granny – for one thing it is small 96 x 52.4 x 14.6 mm and light (just 82g) and has some surprises such as the accelerometer (turn the screen around and the display alters accordingly). There is 5 Mbytes’ internal memory with microSD card slot for up to 4 GB additional storage.

Battery life is rated at an excellent eight hours’ talk time and 350 hours on standby (or 15 hours music play) from a full charge.
