Compare DX900 Deals

The Acer DX900 is a dual SIM Windows Mobile smartphone phone; somewhat chunky and pocket-impossible at 106 x 60.5 x 17 mm and weighing 147g, but with a satisfying rubbery feel in the palm. It looks good too: the screen surround is a shiny black and the Call, End and navi buttons are a deep slate silver. It has a 2.8-inch touchscreen - high resolution at 640x480 pixels - and there is a stylus tucking in the casing, too.

The SIMs sit in slots underneath the battery. You can choose easily which SIM to make a call from, choose which to send an SMS from and manage contacts on each SIM easily, too. The DX900 has fast internet connection via HSDPA (3.5G), plus Wi-Fi for on the move "hotspot" connection and Bluetooth (for short-range wireless data transfer). It has a front camera for two way video calling and you can send the screen content to a TV if you purchase the appropriate cable.

There is a 3 megapixel camera and, for quirkiness, an application called Location SMS, which uses the built-in GPS antenna to identify your location and include it as part of an SMS message. If you install the range of applications available, there is about 100 Mbytes storage left for use, but there is a microSD card slot for hot-swappable augmentation.

Battery life for the heavy-duty user will mean re-charging every night, but a small inconvenience for a good all-round and stylish workhorse.
