Compare beTouch E200 Deals

The Acer beTouch E200 slider smartphone is designed to take advantage of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system without costing the earth. The slide-out keypad – so often a point of weakness – is sturdy and well built. The 3-inch resistive touchscreen offers a modest 240 x 320 resolution.

At 110 x 53.5 x 15.4mm, the E200 is a standard size but hefty, weighing 146g. Connectivity comprises 3G for fast internet, with GPRS/EDGE where that is unavailable, and short-range wireless data transfer via Bluetooth – no Wi-fi, which is de rigour on smartphones worthy of the name. It is a quad-band device so potentially supports global roaming.

Applications include A-GPS and Microsoft Pocket Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / OneNote / PDF viewer). The music player supports all popular file formats, but there is no radio.

The 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, digital zoom and 320 x 240 pixel QVGA video, is par for today’s course. Sadly, there is no standard 3.5mm jack, forcing you to use Acer’s own miserable headphones and use the same jack for charging and data transfer.

Battery life is reasonable – expect to recharge every other day with heavy use.
