Compare beTouch E100 Deals

The beTouch E100 from Acer – launched in spring 2009 as the C1 – is a medium-specification monoblock quad-band smartphone with a 3.2-inch, high resolution (240 x 400 pixels) TFT, WQVGA, resistive touchscreen as its centrepiece (well, almost the entire phone). At 113 x 56 x 12.8mm, it is compact and slim, but comfortably weighty at 118g.

Navigation is via a scroll wheel through the plethora of utilities and applications: it runs Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional and supports 3.5G/HSDPA for fast internet browsing, plus EDGE where the higher service is unavailable and Bluetooth short-range wireless data transfer. The 2 megapixel camera is a compromise for such a stylish device, but it has a zoom facility and video at 320 x 240 QVGA resolution.

Those utilities include an unlimited (in practice) entry phonebook, likewise for call records. The music player (no radio) supports all the popular file formats and the E100 runs the Pocket Office suite of applications. Other functions include speakerphone, voice memo and vibration alert.

Internal memory is, frankly, mean at only 512 Mbytes, making investing in a card to fill the microSD slot a necessity for any serious user. Battery life is rated at five hours’ talk time or 400 hours on standby from a full charge.
