INQ’s Chat 3G is a compact monoblock device with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen that squeezes in a full, four-row QWERTY keyboard underneath. It might look a lot like a Blackberry Curve, but it has far less impact on the wallet.

Its striking feature is a plethora of integrated Web applications that enable you to keep in touch via social networking services (the likes of Twitter, Facebook, Skype and Instant Messaging). The wide home screen can display social networking updates without needing to open a dedicated client.There is also push email functionality from Gmail - the always-on capability that ensures you receive notification of arriving emails.

The active ingredient is 3.5G/HSDPA for fast internet and messaging that builds on its sister device, the INQ Mini 3G and on the company’s Skypephone family. The Chat  offers a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus a video recorder, and built-in GPS and quad-band GSM for potential global roaming.

The handset itself is thin without being flimsily and has solid feel in the palm, while the QWERTY keys have a pleasant rubberised texture with slightly raised buttons. The Chat has an MP3 player and supports Bluetooth short-range wireless data transfer. Like the Mini, it comes with interchangeable back covers to match a fashion ensemble.
