LG Deny Abandoning Windows Phone

Well, here’s an interesting example of how the blogosphere can take a non-story ad turn it into big news in no time at all: in a recent article in the Korea Herald, it was mentioned that LG hadn’t sold very many of it’s Windows Phone enabled handsets (Certainly, we struggled to think of one when we read this), and this tiny fact, when added with the fact that LG are planning on meeting with Steve Ballmer when he comes to the country next month, was soon put through the Chinese Whisper machine that is the internet, and came out the other end as a report that LG had abandoned Microsoft’s mobile OS.

Basically, so LG say, all they’re currently doing is focusing on Android enabled handset, as that’s what their key market wants.

And that makes sense, to be honest: While companies like Samsung can afford to produce devices that use all manner of different operating systems, operations with a smaller team have fewer resources and often have to make difficult decisions around where to focus their efforts – and LG can’t be blamed for picking the more popular operating system to work on.

LG have produced a few Windows phones, but as they haven’t sold spectacularly it seems that they plan on keeping an eye on the operating system as they continue to produce Android handsets.
