People in London are the most likely to make a claim for theft on their home insurance policy, despite an area of Manchester taking the top spot for where the highest proportion of theft claims are made, according to moneysupermarket.com research.

We analysed over 1.1 million home insurance enquiries made on the site in 2009, with the results indicating the country's 20 theft hotspots and ranked in order of how likely residents in those postcodes are to make a home insurance claim for items stolen from their property.
