With some insurance companies it is their practice to try and get away with as low an offer as they think they can get away with never mind the haggleing.

I obviously don't have all the facts etc. but its my guess that your insurers are trying to get you to accept their lowest offer.
If you were fully insured and the £6200 represents the the replacement cost of the items ( except for clothing etc as mentioned in an earlier post) and /or cleaning repairing the rescued items, my advice ...

Can I suggest that you try a local broker who will give you much better service and is someone to speak to face to face.
I would also advise that the house be insured in the name of the executors ie Excrs. of the late J Smith. You personally are not the legal owner but the excrs. are, apart from that I agree with the first answer.

I agree with most of what Huckster said apart from the interest part, I still pay by direct debit and have just renewed, the interest being 3%..
Can I also suggest that you try a good local broker, they can give you service like these "cheap" on line companies never do, and I believe would have saved you all this hassle ...

Ask for a copy of the policy wording and pay special to exclusion clauses and the level of excess. After studying this if you are confident enough that this policy is the one for you, then go for it.
However could they judst be trying to "buy" your business .!!!!!!!!!

First of all the cheapest is not always the best, but I assume you take this attitude that as its not yours why should you have to pay for it !! .
I will agree £162 seems quite dear, but it does depend on your post code , if you live in a city centre it could be a fair price
By landlords items do you mean fixtures and fittings e.g. ...

Just tried this site for a car quote and another well known one, and very disappointed that no quotes available for any driver 25 yrs and older. My present cover allows this and I cannot see any good reason why sites such as this cannot do likewise. If you go to a broker or tied agent they can offer it no bother.
Another worry about the quote ...

Its not an answer, but in my opinion you get what u pay for ie cheap insurance with little or no service.
In saying that did you not get a renewal notice from Paragon your NCD should have been shown on it.
