Thanks for that info Huckster, I think I'll probably go ahead with them, they have offered a significant saving and they are a well known company. I think to have mixed reviews is probably good, because most I have seen pretty much only have bad reviews!

Hi,
I'm up for renewal and I can't decide which car insurance to go with. For me the price is not so much the issue, it's how helpful and competent the car insurance company will be if I ever need to make a claim. Therefore I always avoid the really cheap insurance companies I've never heard of for that reason. I'm currently with Zurich because I ...

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm selling a car at the moment and getting a lot of offers to pay by bankers draft. I'm pretty certain most if not all so far have been scammers. My boyfriend says go for it anyway because he thinks bankers draft is guaranteed and we won't release the car until it has been cleared and the funds taken out of the ...

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before, could someone confirm to me whether a bankers draft can be cancelled or not after being issued? I asked someone at Nationwide and they said no, but I have been told and have read several times online that it can. And from my experience bank staff don't always know what they're talking about. Are there any ...

Thanks for the replies, sorry I only just got a notification of them... I will definitely remember that in the future, I shopped around a little and in the end lost around £90-100 which was better than before. Still so much for globalisation... you would think in this day and age and especially with the euro, we shouldn't be ripped off so much for ...

Hi,
Could anyone advise me on the cheapest way to do an international bank transfer? I had to do one a few weeks ago from the UK to Germany, standard transfer, and I lost approx £150 through the exchange rate the bank offered.
I need to make another one, and have got a few exchange rates from several banks and again I stand to lose between ...

no I wouldn't buy a house on the telephone! But this is hardly the same thing... There are some purchases I do in person or in writing and there are some like simple broadband and TV I will do over the phone. I do this for the sake of speed, if I write in then what could take a few days could take 2 or more weeks. I won't be buying things by post ...

Thanks Huckster and Jalexa,
LOTS of useful info there. I am definitely going to start taking down more details now, something I always find is that I can never make out the name, it's as if they rush it. But I am going to start recording also, like Jalexa said, the chances of going to a court of a law are small but in the mean time it could make ...

Hi,
I just wanted to know where I stand on this. About a month ago, I ordered a TV package to add on to my existing broadband I have with Virgin Media. I called several times before making the order as I had a few questions and each time I double checked the quote. However I have just got my bill through and they are charging me more per month ...

It's for a memorial. I checked with my credit card supplier and gave them all the details and they said it would be covered. However now I have found out that the company doesn't take credit card... After doing some checks I got confirmation it was a legit company though. Still would have preferred to pay by cc for the added security.
