Dear Smit1970, Stop moaning and start acting. Become a member of the action group to start with. There is a privacy statement on the site at the bottom. You seem to be more concerned about losing some of your private data than your money.

Pedro You should be able to understand members on this forum are frustrated. We invested in a bank, not a high risk share. It must be nice for you as you did not put money in Landsbanki as you did research into the bank and you were aware that was no depositors protection scheme in Guernsey. I think one month ago most of us did not ever ...

The way the funding for a depositor scheme in The Netherlands is organised, is that all the Dutch bank 'chip in' (?) into this fund,- all based on their seize. The idea is that one day it could be 'the other bank' , so they all share the burden. So it's not the citizens who have to pay. Regarding 3 It is generally accepted ...

TO STOP THIS DISCUSSION FOR ONCE & ALL: Living in The Netherlands we CANNOT open a GBP saving account in the UK nor The Netherlands. The intrest rate is slightly higher than an EUR account, but this should offset the exchange rate fluctations, which it did not (from 1,47 to 1,27 in less than a year). We pay TAX on our intrest AND on the ...

In reply to the post from S78: Assuming (...) there is not a 100% coverage; you could think of is a scheme, where you would get x% of your money back now, x+5% when you withdraw in 6 months time, x+10% in 12 months and so on. In the mean time of course the battle for full settlement should go on. Like this a potential buyer doesn't run the ...

All, After reading all relevant material; to me it all comes down to the following: 1. LG is a subsidiary of Landsbanki, not a branch. It therefore doesn't fall under the Iceland protection/guarantee act. 2. Guernsey doesn't have a depositors protection scheme in place, so there is nothing there. 3. The website of LG stated: ...

Read the following article on http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/investing-and-markets/article.html?in_article_id=433257&in_page_id=3 And you can ask th question again why the GFSC did not interfere back in March 2008 already. I am a simle consumer, it should be their task to keep track of these technical analyses and act upon them.

In the Isle of Man a public meeting about the collapsed bank Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander is to be held at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas October 9th. The meeting will be chaired by Mike Simpson who is provisionally the liquidator. Is this going to happen in Guernsey for the Landsbanki depositors? If not, why not?
