Every insurance policy should be scrutinised to understand all fee charges etc. BISL/BGL are just a broker, in the event of a claim it is up to your insurer to look after you. I'm not sure about complaining but most insurance companies will use a renewal notice of proof of NCD. You say you have one with 9 years on it. Happy days!

Cetainly people in the motor trade have whats called "trade policies" where they can drive any car (for obvious reasons), these usually come with high premium and high excess. Your best bet is to ring some of the bigger insurance companies to find out what they offer (don't ring brokers, they are unlikely to be ably to help you).

Surely the renewal notice would be for a different car than the one you're trying to insure?
My advice is don't do it, you would technically be driving round without insurance

Budget have 4 call centres in th UK and 1 in South Africa.

And by the way the 14 days is calculated as 14 days from when the docs were sent plus 2 days for postage so you actually have 16 days in which to cancel.
