  • Re: URGENT - PIPEX PETITION

I experience quite a loss in signal through the internal wiring in my house so this is something to bear in mind. A couple of months ago, Pipex arranged for a BT engineer to come out and check my connection. He plugged his box of tricks into the master BT socket and surprise, surprise, the sync speed was about 7MB. When I connect to an internal ...

Regarding an ISP, I am hearing good things about Madasafish and Zen, but as Jason pointed out, this does seem to be a universal problem. By the way, my 8MB adslmax connection has now stabilised at 3MB. Not great by any means, but I think much of this is down to the internal wiring in my house affecting my sync speeds. The thing that I've noticed ...

  • Re: PIPEX - A TERRIBLE Service.

You're spot on Jim. I've been doing a bit of research on this and think I know where its at. The sync speed of your router has a direct bearing on your download speed. What happens is the BT system monitoring your line averages this out over a period of time and bases your download speeds on it. So if you get consistently low sync speeds at your ...

And you think that it's acceptable that we have to hassle Pipex in this manner before they actually get off their arses and do something. Do you think it's acceptable to treat the people who pay your wages in this way? It's almost as if you expect us to accept the fact you're shite and make allowances for it. You pay for a service. You don't get ...

Jim I wasn't charged anything for the callout, but all the guy did was check the sync speed of the connection into the house, ie. on BT owned equipment. All this confirmed was that it is working OK which I suppose in itself is useful as it was something that needed to be eliminated from the equation. I don't know what gear you guys are using in ...

Hi I think you've got to get the 10 day stabilisation period out of the way before you start firing rockets! During this period my speed fluctuated from 500K to 4.5MB but if you ring them they'll say that this is normal and BT are just finding your optimal speed. In my case this turned out to be complete rubbish. After the period I got 500K and ...

So here's an update guys. BT engineer turned up this morning, plugged his box into the BT owned connection behind the consumer faceplate. Guess what? Getting 7MB connection speeds. Said it was something to do with my internal wiring and then buggered off. I disconnected my router and set it all up connected to my laptop on the main incoming ...

Jim Well things have moved on slightly for me. Tomorrow morning at 8am I've got a BT engineer coming out to my house. There's obviously a problem here and not only that, it couldn't be solved remotely and requires a visit. Broadband speed is still wobbling about all over the place. I've been up to 1.5MB and now I'm firmly anchored at 512K. I'm ...

  • Re: PIPEX - A TERRIBLE Service.

Jimmibo Your scenario mirrors mine exactly. The only differerence I have is that BT have contacted Pipex and want to come to my house to check out the line as there seems to be a fault on it. They gave me a series of appointments options and they're allegedly going to arrange for a BT engineer to visit me. I was on a 2mb service before and also ...

  • More Pipex moans

Hi guys, wonder if you could offer me some advice. It's yet another Pipex problem. I've been with them for some time now, but since upgrading to their wonderful 8MB service, I've had real grief. The upgrade, from the 2mb service that I had initially, I was quite happy with because it was £5 a month cheaper than I was paying previously. I went ...
