Hi Markie,
Yes you are right, a car allowance is paid gross and taxable. Usually this means that you can then supply any car you wish, however some employers do and can specify what type of vehicle and age you have to use to comply with their policy (such as a minimum standard).
If the company was to lease a vehicle that you were to ...

I live in York and work in Leeds.
The reason for this is that York has a marginal higher cost of living mainly due to the size of the place, but salaries are pretty poor, and on average are much higher in leeds, which is why hundreds of us crawl down the A64 every morning to be able to afford a decent house etc.
If anything, your boss is talking ...

Firstly, Congratulations on your up and coming arrival.
Do you have any equity in your house? - as it may be better (and far cheaper) to get a local firm and add the amount on to your mortgage, therefore not taking out an extra loan, and with minimal monthly effect to your finances.
I have to admit, £3k is far too expensive, I had a new ...

Thanks for this,
However this is not the point I was trying to highlight. CPW was posing as Orange when they called. If I knew it was CPW I was talking to - I would have told them to wait until the end of my current contract. As I believed I was speaking to Orange, the asumption in my mind was that this would start as soon as the last one ...

I only activate it to use with my earpiece when driving in case of an urgent call, but the technology is superb.
As for kids - well if you need to give them a mobile - ensure it does not have bluetooth or even a camera of which there are plenty - and therefore no problem. Neither of my ...

Okay, okay I know that some of you will read my story of woe and say "..idiot". But just to make sure that no one else falls for this I am prepared for the public humiliation....
I had a 12 month contract with Orage through CPW on cashback with production of 4th, 8th and 12th bill - last bill being June.
At the start of the month, got ...

You are right in the fact that you get less when you part exchange, but this is because the garage has to make a profit and add a warranty to that vehicle. However you need to look at the £1,800 against what private sales are achieving in your area, as you will never get forecourt price for a private sale.
I have to admin £1,190 seems ...

If by Mercedes, you mean the A class - avoid that like the plague!! - the car is good enough, but the garage bills will crucify you as anything that needs to be done virtually results in a full car strip down to get at anything - and at Merc garage prices, this makes it a very bad buy.
The honda and Ford will do you well, with the ford being a ...

How does the price you are asking compare with other 306's on the website? you could always go to undercut the competition.
I would have thought a week is not really long enough, but if you need to get rid of it sooner, you could try Ebay, a local motor auction or if the worst comes to it, sell it to a local garage, but ensure you ...
