I agree with the insurer - you need to be more organised when calling for quotes, i.e. have all info with you when you call up. You will have been asked if there were any previous claims, you needed to be 100% sure.

Do you not know how insurance works? It's a £400 car. They told you if you scrap the car they will give you the cost for it. They told you that they would pay out. If your not willing to accept it then thats your own tough luck.

You wouldnt have to pay for the remainder of the policy as you are then technically insuring a car up until the point of renewal which is illegal as the car is no longer in existance.

Its not up to the school to teach them. I blame people like you, parents, who ring around for insurance for the 17yr old yourself.
