• Re: Orange Credit Referral declined my attempt to start a new contract

Two new handsets? Nice top of the range models by any chance? Young applicant with not much of a credit record, living in a metropolitan area? You may well have been risk managed out of this cntract. Mobile contracts have different costs and risks attached to them. The value of the handset can mean that a different risk model is applied compared ...

  • Re: OpenOffice.org sort of follow on from Superantispyware

If you just need basic documents (word processing and simple spreadsheets) who look any further than Google Docs? Use it under Chrome and it's a fairly slick and easy system with some nice benefits. I use Open Office at home and Office2003 at work. The from end of Open Office is a bit clunky after using Microsoft Office, but the main ...

  • Re: Door Step Lending

The common bond test for credit unions doesn't have to be just about where you live; it can be about who you work for, or something else you have in common. What's interesting about the OP's post is thast judging by the rates quoted this ispart of the DWP's drive to grow the credit union market by providing funds for credit ...

  • Re: Leave N-Power now

Oh dear. Your first paragraph is impossible. Your third paragraph is the kind of thing that makes it good that the internet is both ephemeral and anonymous - did you really compare your hissy fit at N-Power to the kind of behaviour that stops oppressive dictatorships coming into being? Your last paragraph suggests that whatever it is you're ...

  • Re: Can i Object Direct Lines decision to pay out a 3rd party and make them take it to court if i have legal cover?

What have you got to lose? All the costs of the case, plus whatever damages the judge awards.. If a judge decides you've pursued a matter unreasonably you can be liable for all the costs. Legal cover will only cover you if it's reasonably likely that you'll win. So if legal cover think you haven't got a case, then ...

  • Re: Desperate help, owe MPI £1,200

I agree; I'm not sure that my advice was all that different to yours save only that I sought to emphasize to the OP that the law is fundamentally on his side, provided he has clean hands, which is why insurance companies behave in the way they do. It's only sols who seems to have a major problem with what I said; maybe sols will come along and ...

  • Re: Desperate help, owe MPI £1,200

Ok, here's where me and Sols are going to differ, and he's going to assert he knows best. Question one, are the company estopped from making a claim because you relied upon their statement that you could claim? I'm not sure, because I don't know how much you told them before they paid out. Neither does Sols, but he's certain I'm wrong. That's an ...

  • Re: Abbey's lost the habit...

Abbey have an unfortunate manner about this. I know of a case where Abbey have written to a former customer threatening to fine them over this - quite how they propose to fine them, I know not, but their customer service is spectaculalry bad over this issue that was entirely of their making...
