If EDF are showing the best, it may be worth noting that the site may have not been properly updated with price increases. EDF raised theirs last Friday so surely they shouldn't be showing as cheapest in any area at this moment in time. Same for BG apart from Click 5 cos that didn't get affected by the increase.

Whatever profit Centrica make overall doesn't mean a dime to BG. Centrica aren't allowed to subsidise BG losses under the terms laid down when the monopoly was removed.
You would dispute the figures (despite the fact I've seen them with my own eyes and you would to if you bothered to look for them). And what's wrong with trading ...

Ok I took the liberty of looking into some figures to balance the BG bashing- I am a loyal beast after all- and found that they were the only supplier to reduce the bills twice last year (15% in total) and that they are gaining 250,000 more customers a year than they lose which isn't bad going. They are nowhere near the bottom of the table of ...

I would think that judging by the headlines and 40% rises mooted about a 9% increase for electricity only customers isn't bad at all and I'm sure that EDF customers who are facing 17% electric rises would agree. And what I meant by the timescale is that there will no further increases. So no nasty Christmas surprises.
I fail to see why ...

Everybody raised their prices in January, so I'm not with you. And I never said it wasn't classed as a hike either. I just said that it's fairer if those who don't use gas don't get penalised for the increased amount it costs to buy the stuff.

BG have announced that this will be the only increase this year. Smart money reckons that the other suppliers are likely to further increase their tarriffs twice this year.
I suppose it costs more to produce gas and so it's not fair to penalise those who have all electric homes with price hikes when it's not necessary?

Shame that EON saw fit to increase the tarriff price on their PP2009, making it more expensive than BG's and that runs longer as well. So glad I did my homework!
I hear Mr Lewis was v animated indeed!

Give it time Rob, give it time.
To be honest the only way of knowing who is the worst are by Energywatch complaints cos everyone can throw in a horror story re their supplier. BG are by far the biggest supplier so you would think that they have the most complaints- though according to industry data supplied on here they don't, so I suppose ...

Always best to go dual fuel, on DD and go on an online tarriff- or in this climate a fixed rate one. I think saving money is coming second place to controlling the monthly spend at the moment, given all the stories about the price increases!
In most areas BG's Click 5 comes up as the best, but if I was you I'd look at the fixed rates ...
