Oops! I missed it!
I've been checking in here from time to time, but the second half of 'that year' has sped by and I missed the actual anniversary. The retirement that we were saving so hard for, and of which the Icesave money was not a large but nevertheless very significant amount, has arrived and life has been very busy. I only ...

Hello Swifts and all.
Nice to hear folks are still with us. Yes, it's good news to hear that Iceland are at last repaying their debts.
I have just received my payout from FSCS for the fixed rate money I left in there, so that's me done now. Bit of an anticlimax after all that nailbiting, and an odd feeling now that we've all gone ...

We have nowhere near enough money to buy any buy-to-let property, but that would be a great idea if we were free to do it. However, our first priority would be to lend to our sons in order to get them started.
Yes, I already do keep it in small amounts - very small amounts they are too!
I can't believe that after the heady days of the last ...

kev2006n:Phew .... that has been a Saga. Pleased you got there in the end. Hope they gave you a fair amount. Where to save next. My view don't bother spend it! Depends how much you have. It might be the time to buy a second property and sit on it for a while. Don't forget we all nearly lost it, so maybe do something different than give ...

It's lovely to keep seeing familiar faces popping on here, and I hope everybody's doing well.
Well, my post-Icesave ISA saga has finally, yes just finally, been concluded. Following on from when I posted in January, this isn't so much an Icesave enquiry post, more a Skipton rant. Last summer Skipton made a time limited ...

I may send them a demand for £100 late payment penalty####
Hope all are well and best wishes
Yes, that definitely IS interesting - thanks for letting us know reddy.

I agree with you ATM! Which is why I personally, have always distributed my little stash in the best rated accounts I could find, plus a few Premium Bonds. I then lived through the Icesave fiasco, but am still on the lookout for the best, but safe deals.
But I was answering MADMANDY's safety question, and Premium Bonds are definitely safe. ...

Whether you take out all or only part of your ISAs is a decision only you can make. Once taken out of the ISA wrapper, that money can't be put back, only next year's new allowance.
As far as bank of mattress is concerned, forget it. If you're after safety as a priority, then I don't think there's anything safer than Treasury ...

My belated congratulations to you and your mum Kevin. It settles the mind when these things are finally sorted.
Yes, the present interest rates situation is a horror story.
I cannot yet relate my Skipton saga because it STILL isn't finished. Their sheer incompetence, laziness and audacity etc. etc. has had me spitting blood this week. I ...

It's nice to see familiar faces still here. I haven't been well lately and that's why I haven't posted recently. My aforementioned ISA saga, a couple of pages back, is still very frustratingly standing still. I won't forget to pop on here and tell you all how it goes, if it ever does get sorted. After suffering the Skipton ...
