• Re: What tyres do you use?

Mr big:After reading all these answers to to your thread my thoughts remain the same. Whether you can afford or not good quality tyres, its how you look after them is what counts. I dont walk round a car every day when I use it to check tyre pressure. I am too busy!! I rarely use the same car two days in a row! (I have three cars) What ...

  • Re: What tyres do you use?

msej449:I used to work for Pirelli and I can tell you that the 'original equipment' tyres are the very best off the production-line, usually better than the full-price equivalents. Car manufacturers won't hesitate to send an entire batch back if even one tyre is sub-standard and some tyre manufacturers will even do special production ...

  • Re: Solar Power

hirtag: We moved into a old cottage in the south of scotland last year and its in an area with no gas and the heating in the house is by a coal/wood burning stove in the living room heating the water and the radiators. Its very efficient and since ive just bought 22 ton of wood from the local forrest its also economical to run. Problem arises in ...

  • Re: Northern Rock

backfoot: Daniel306: If respectable people who are the "fabric" of this country cause the collapse of a financial institution for no good reason then they are being stupid and idiotic. Just because someone fought in WW2 or they're just plain old is no reason to let them off for sheep-like behaviour which only causes problems. The ...

  • Re: Northern Rock

backfoot: I am afraid Daniel speaks critically of those with common sense because he sits in judgment without being in a similar position. Before late last night the Govt.guarantee to NR did not exist,so given the run on the Bank no one in their right mind would have sat back to protect their interests.Daniel has been resident here for a short ...

  • Re: Northern Rock: Panic versus Trust

Mark1978: Daniel306:Northern Rock's problems don't stem directly from them lending money to people who are now defaulting on their loans.... Two different things here and I wish people would stop with the misinformation. Quite so. In fact Northern Rock enjoys a lower than average rate of defaulting on their mortgages, which in ...

  • Re: Northern Rock

Saverdave: Perhaps foolishly, I thought that I might get a serious reply to my post about precisely what the Government guarantee covers and whether NR are being irresponsible in allowing people to think that it covers reinvested moneys. But all I get is rants about the Daily Mail and Daniel306. You said it in your own ...

fotasmic:Frankly I have had a bellyfull of your high and mighty opinion of your fellow human beings Daniel306. The banks, the politicians , the FSA are more worthy of you venting your over-sized spleen on. I can only conclude that you belong to the ranks one of the above and given your comment your are obviously not a Tory. The public have ...

  • Re: Northern Rock

Saverdave: I am confused. The Chancellor clearly said that the Government's guarantee only appplied to existing balances with NR, yet a few hours later "Adam Applecart" is offering to refund withdrawal penalties to anyone who re-invests their money. Such reinvestments would not be covered by the ...

absentfriends:Costco has a very good brand and with balancing etc price is very competitive. I think anyone can join and there's a double figure annual fee. I'm now a Costco member and the only tyres they supply are Michelin's and they generally well priced.
