• Re: Sky high electricity bills - are we paying for our neighbours too?

What type of meter (credit/key/token) and how is your flat heated (gas/storage heating)? Have you been sending in meter reads, if so have you been including the digits after the decimal point?

Thyme, you will need Eco10. Jalexa, you have been very selective in the quote....you would do well as a journalist! That said it is a pain trying to find out about some of the more exotic systems out there.

MrMPAN, thanks for the info, you sound pretty switched on. I work in the Hydro DNO and have constant problems explaining to folk about THTC and Eco10, to both householders and call centres. Many customers and sales staff are either poorly advised, or ignorant of the fact that these systems are not Eco7; nor are they supported by many suppliers.

Your main problem is that British gas are the most expensive prepayment meter providers across the UK. Not true, it depends on the area you live in and how much others are charging, and how they are catering for the standing charge (everyone pays a standing charge, it's just more obvious on PP meters). In the area I cover BG Key meters used ...

  • Re: Excessive Electricity bills and faulty meter....

The read on the display defaults to whichever rate is being recorded at the time, i.e. when it's 00:30 meter time the reading will show the low rate (R2) and will switch on the ...

Is heatwise not a system similar to Comfort Plus/THTC? If so it is not Eco10 and would explain the storage heaters.

  • Re: Excessive Electricity bills and faulty meter....

I am a meter engineer who predominantly works for BG and stumbled into this forum looking for something else. Whilst I'm no billing expert I can see you have a problem that I have encountered before. Firstly, it looks like your clock on the timer has stopped in the low rate area, this timer type is designed to switch the meter to low rate ...
