• Re: Shop for less this Christmas

Here's a wizard wheeze. Always keep all your Christmas cards, including the one from YBS, and envelopes and buy some very cheap tippex in bulk and recycle them to friends and family. Start delivering now all the ones close enough to do by hand and send the rest 2nd class and where people live near to each other send them in batches asking them ...

  • Vodafone mobile broadband

Vodafone mobile broadbandI bought a £35 payg stick with £15 top up on it for £25 inc £10 cashback a couple of days ago. It’s a brilliant standby at home if, as happened to me on cue, home broadband packs up. I can do the essentials “surfing” in about 15 minutes which amounts to about 25p. Outside the home ...

  • Re: Do we spend too much on Christmas?

With the exception of a tiny minority everyone spends too much at Christmas because they spend my money given to them through an intermediary. Still to be fair, if memory serves me correctly, the Good Book does say "Go forth and underpin the retail sector on this religious occasion and looketh for the announcement saying 'likely to be ...

  • Re: Vodafone returns policy

I recently bought a piece of hardware from Vodafone. It was not faulty but the t&cs for use were not declared properly on the website and by chance I found out from a third party that they were inadequate. I didn't mess about with CS and simply wrote a brief letter to the chief executive explaining the aforementioned and requesting my ...

  • Re: Monmouthshire 3 year stepped fixed rate bond at 5.48% ???

First and forgive me if I've bored you with this before - What's the difference between a BS/bank and the used car industry. The former is better regulated. The 5.48% is only for year three unless I've misread the website. I would not give these good folk a penny of my cash because to start with they treat my money as theirs. "6 ...

  • Re: Talk Talk

I have said here before that TT's CS is much better than BT's because after a minute or so of TT you know they are awful but BT can lull you into a false sense of security that they are going to sort out your problem. Both are normally polite at the start but when they find saying the same thing over and over again is not helping the blood ...

  • Re: MSI Wind 10" Windows XP U100 £199 @ Argos

Well before I bought it I did look at the battery availability and price of the more powerful one. There are plenty about if you do the normal searches. Once decided I wanted a Netbook I started reading up on them from any "review" source I could find including c.net, PC Pro and many others. I know enough to know the reputable review ...

  • Re: Who would know?

Just to add to that I'm pretty sure I remember one case of HMRC contacting someone's bank who had two and the second had to be closed and I think the bank fired the customer so to speak.
