You choice, but for the benefit of others, anybody on a standard tariff who has never switched can save about 20% by using a price comparison website.

    No

The 30 pound is the fee they would charge me to change to this fixed term plan - which is really stupid and unfair. im currently on a standard gas tariff.

The thing is, is a 6% reduction in my gas bill (thats what they told me) a reason to change plans when they would charge me 30 pound to do so ?

Im quite happy with the electricity as a pre-payment metre and, to be honest, all this switching suppliers doesnt interest me so much. To me it seems they are all "much of a muchness" i.e. one company raises prices then 2 months later they all do - then one company lowers prices and then they all do etc etc.

Is the £30 because you are already on a fixed term gas supply? If so, until when?

The best thing to do is to learn to use a price comparison website. Find out from BG what your annual gas consumption is and plug the info into the website. You will get a list of suppliers in price order. See how that compares with the BG offer.

Would you take this gas deal ?

    Hi

Im with British Gas - got a prepayment electricity meter and pay on receipt of bill gas supply. I called them the other day and they told me I could switch the gas to a fixed rate till 2010 which would save me 6% on the bill BUT Id have to pay £30 to change. Is it worth it ?
