With hikes to be implemented on green taxes are you willing to pay more on products such as car insurance, new cars and flights to boost the environment?

We are getting more and more information on how to be more "Green" in our daily lives and so we make the effort, turning off items like the computer and TV, maybe even cutting back on the heating and walking a bit more instead of taking the car. Then look at the price increases of domestic charges like Gas and Electricity and compare them to the profits of said organisations, it leaves a rather bitter taste in the mouth to see "Fat cats" getting huge bonuses whilst the Bank of England puts up the interest rate to "curb consumer spending". Would I be prepared to pay more for insurance etc, maybe if I the income tax was dropped to 16% across the board,(Lithuania?) its no wonder we, as a nation have more debt than anywhere in Europe, when it costs so much to live in the UK

I would not object to green taxes provided the money was used for green initiatives such as decent grants for solar, wind power for individual housing, however as usual the money will simply be used to prop up a failing health and education system.

I have considered being very green and having geothermal heating and solar generated electricity in the small barn conversation I am doing but the grants are so mean that I have had to reconsider. (a grant of only £1,500 for a total project spend of £30,000).

Rather than investing time and money installing smart meters so we can see what we already know, ie. what we are spending, they should encourage householders to install individual alterative, green energy sources by means of substantial grants. As we all know this will never happen because of the potential loss of revenue in terms of VAT on our gas and electric bills.

I don't doubt their is urgent need to start a comprehensive world wide, let alone nation-wide effort to minimise the worst effects of global warming but why should we pay extra taxes?

This unprecedentedly greedy and tax hungry Government is clawing huge amounts of money out of us now and wasting huge sums of it. They've bankrupted the Pensions of tens of thousands (£6 billion a year grabbed from all our pension funds) as well as borrowed the country into a level of debt not seen since the seventies and eighties.

In addition their total lack of promotion of alternative fuels to Oil which are readily available now is a scandal. I mean things such as biodeisel from recycled commercial cooking oils and fats; bio ethanol from wood in a similar manner to the Swedish effort which will see them free of any dependence on oil for vehicle fuel in the next 15 years; small unit electricity generation from domestic boilers which already exist which can generate enough power for the average home while burning the gas which willbe burned anyway for domestic use AND provide surplus for the national grid getting twice the benefit from the resource; support through building regulations for the diversion of rain and other used water into flushing toilets instead of using drinking water; the insatallation of photovoltaic panels on all the roofs of new buildings and extensions to add to the renewable power generation resourse; wind vanes on roofs to help pump once used waste water into high level tanks to store it for toilet flushing, garden watering through such filtration as would be required for such use; the promotion of heat pumps and heat exchangers to reduce the reliance on new burn power use in homes and commercial premises.

There are any number of small things we can all do in our daily lives which altogether will make a large difference, there are the matters I have listed above which would make a big differnce.

But what effort is being made by this control freak crew to look after our future and our children's future rather than padding their already fat pension plans; making sure their financial plans are so rigged any incoming Government will be severely restricted in their ability to make good the damage; lying to us to try and kid us into electing them again. Nothing as far as I can see.

So why on earth should I accept to pay yet more money from my already stretched budget just to get them off the hook when they have done very little and mostly nothing to help me!
