Sounds like a scam to me. Why pay a company an upfront fee, when there is plenty of free advice and template letters online. These companies are not government affiliated, they are licensed by the Ministry of Justice. See the MOJ press release about this. http://www.justice.gov.uk/news/newsrelease170209a.htm

If the Credit Card agreement (CCA) was arranged prior to April 2007, your g/f could look into unenforceability. The CCA could be unenforceable if it does not contain certain ingredients or the company cannot find the CCA. To see if the company has a valid CCA, your g/f could request a copy under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, paying a fee of a £1. But this can be a difficult and stressful process. See http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/t/cca-request-advice-35477.aspx

Personally I would not bother. Is it worth years of stress and a wrecked credit record/rating, just to avoid a debt? See another post and advice given. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/t/unenforceable-loanscredit-cards-38480.aspx

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Do NOT go with this company.

They say they are government affiliated, can they prove this? I doubt it. In fact i'd be willing to state that the government is not affiliated with them at all. They NEVER lose a claim? Such a bold statement to make.

The simple fact of the matter is that no one in the land can "wipe" the debt your girlfriend has. All they can do is make the debt unenforceable, which does not stop the credit companies issuing defaults against your credit file.

Anyway, making the debt unenforceable is something you can do yourself, for free, with the advice and templates on this forum.

Word to the wise, that process doesn't always work either, and ultimately it can be down to the decision of a single judge as to whether the debt is unenforceable as well.

    Wiping out credit card debt???

    Hi all

My Girlfriend has been approched by a firm stateing that they can wipe off her credit card balance! They say they are Government afiliated and they never lose a claim, All they want is £290 up front! The reasons why i'm very dubis about this is they won't send any paperwork or brochers etc until they recieve the money up front, All they can offer us is a web site address not even a phone number as they will phone us back.

    Looking forward to any feedback

    Thanks Gareth
