Why I will not go with Sky

I am in procees of considering changing my ISP, I have looked at a number of options Sky being one of them.

At moment with my present ISP I get 3.5 Mb download speed. But when I looked at the impressive Sky package, I checked with them what the maximum dload speed I would obtain. Theirs came back at ONLY 0.5Mb, how could that be? Either they are being very conservative and honest about their service or they have got it wrong. Certainly that will not persuade me to go with them. Just makes the whole situation even more confusing.

Re: Why I will not go with Sky

I used to be with Sky (using the upto 8MB) broadband.

At best I got never more than 5MB and at peak times it was 2MB and I am only 2 miles from the exchange.

Copper ADSL is rubbish and I'm now with VM cable @ 10MB. It's better but still falls down when my daughter is downloading 'stuff'.

Why I will not recommend SKY

On 7th July I agreed to a 3 part package of phone, broadband and tv with SKY through their agent Simplify Digital.

Even though I have sent letters, and made a number of enquiries by phone and email, the package is still not yet fully installed.

I have not had one letter of reply to address the points I raise. Their staff seem to be nameless. I am still trying to get a decent connection for the router which doesn't mean having wires hanging out of junction boxes. It really is a mess, and I feel I have been dumped on as the muggins to sort it out. Yes, SKY has been taking the direct debits while providing me with very little help. My previous provider, VIRGIN, gave me trouble-free Broadband, and I now regret making the change to SKY.

So spare yourself a similar nightmare and don't use SKY for your Broadband.

Re: Why I will not recommend SKY

Could not agree more - have just had the same thing happen. I have been trying to get connected with them since June. Everytime I think I am getting somewhere, their system goes down, they promise me the earth and that they will call me, and they never do. They are useless. They constantly claim it's someone elses fault instead of getting it sorted. Don't go there. Cheap means cheap and nothings for free
