Felicity - In retortion; here's my introduction to, "Herbie" the anthropomorphic Volkswagen Beetle...otherwise known as the Love bug. ........Every student wanted one in my days.!

I referred to it as a vacuum car........because it used to pick up bits of "fluff"....: -- )

Re: Why does scrapping my car make me feel bad?!

Felicity - I've only had Scratchy for a year and he was a present to me. Now I am selling him (okay, okay, IT) for £75 - a bargain!

I don't know if I am being ridiculously anthropomorphic about this but I feel terrible. I swear that (as I got into my new, scratch-less car) this morning, Scratchy was staring at me with the eyes of an abused kitten in an RSPCA advert.

    I know, I know. Get a grip Felicity Coke-Evans : -- )

Aww ...Felicity - You should have named it "Herbie" after all the activities that may have taken place inside it.... during your loving years of ownership. !

That includes the burnt herbs, along with the diet Coke up your nose. : -- )

    Graeme Delap:

Aw, bless! I shall admit to having a Rover Mini called 'Boris' - nicknamed by a girlfriend I hasten to add. Ahem.

Named by 'a' girlfriend, not 'the' girlfriend? I think you should ask the other ones for their suggestions...

A woman at work once named her little Fiesta "Sussy"

This deep-seated psychological...er...trauma...must go back to 'Tootles the Taxi' and beyond, surely?

My daughter named her first car , a Ford Ka, "Frankie" - don't know why - but she was bereft when he came off second best in a fight with a lorry in a country lane - even now several years later she gets upset!!!

Re: Why does scrapping my car make me feel bad?!

You named "it"! Surely Scrappy is male and a "Him"... He put up with you and your terrible driving for a whole year and is now going into well deserved retirement. So well done Scrappy - a great MALE car...

Re: Why does scrapping my car make me feel bad?!

I did look long and hard at the scrappage scheme but I could still get more car for less second hand.

It's a shame you have to have owned it for one year before it qualifies or my friends would have been fighting over him!

Re: Why does scrapping my car make me feel bad?!

Perhaps Scratchy is thinking about how much you might have got for him under the scrappage scheme and feeling under-valued...

Re: Why does scrapping my car make me feel bad?!

You're right, I never should have named it. Or I should have given it a name that made me dislike it, like Mumm-Ra the Ever Living.

It's because you named it, and because you're a big girly girl! ;o)

Why does scrapping my car make me feel bad?!

This afternoon I am scrapping my 12 year old Ford Fiesta, Scratchy.

I've only had Scratchy for a year and he was a present to me.

Get a grip King-Evans.

    Felicity
