Re: Who offers the cheapest broadband?

Now this deal has passed it's £11.95 inc for a 512K connection with a 2 Gig cap. A 30 day contract is in operation with a Zyxel single port router (Worth around £25) thrown in for a tenner. A £50 up front connection fee is charged. A £1 per Gig surcharge is in operation for breaching the set cap.
This equates to almost £200 per first annum for a 0.5M 2G capped connection.

Re: Who offers the cheapest broadband?

Please remember that age old adage..... You gets what you pays for.
There are some huge cons where Biscit are concerned!

Check out any of the Enta based providers. UKFSN are a good example. An award winning network with excellent customer support, no FUP and no port throttling. There are cheaper options starting at £14.99 but perhaps the most popular would be the Home MAX 30 offer. This is a BT IPstream ADSL MAX product (Up tp 8M down/448K up) with a static IP, a 300 Gig off peak and 30 Gig peak traffic allowance for £19.99 inc.
Peak hours are defined as Monday to Friday 08:00 to 22:00 while off peak is Monday to Thursday 22:00 to 08:00 and Friday 22:00 through to Monday 08:00.

Re: Who offers the cheapest broadband?

Almost weekly we're getting some sort of new deal coming onto the market which raises the bar even further in terms of value for the consumer.

Here are two more offers which launched this week which are very mouthwatering. The question is how far can providers go before they just start giving away everything for free?

Virgin Mobile have launched a new deal where if you sign up to a £15 or £30 a month contract you get free broadband from Virgin.net for a year. The offer is open until Oct 31st and it's pretty impressive:

Pros - £15 a month minimum mobile contract, 200 free minutes a month, free texts and free voicemail. Up to 8Mb speed, 6Gb download cap.
Cons - £11 a month BT line rental on top making the total package £26 a month, (but if you're already with BT anyway this is a really good deal).
Catches - If you cancel the mobile contract or switch before 12 months you have to pay full whack for the broadband, (£17.99 per month).
Overall - Well it looks like a far better deal on paper than the Orange Free Broadband offer which demands £30 a month minimum mobile contract. I'm always dubious about 'Free Broadband' but this one actually looks like a very good free broadband deal for an existing BT customer - that's if you don't mind paying cross-network call charges if all your mates are on different mobile networks.

Biscit have just announced that from today they are cancelling compulsory contract periods on all their residential products, including their extremely popular, award winning - Biscit FreeMax package.

Pros: This means for £20.87 per month you can get this product right now without waiting:

8Mb speed, 2Gb download cap (pay extra per gigabyte)
720mins of free UK landline calls anytime per month
free calls anytime to other Biscit users
    10p a min customer/technical support
    no 12-18 month contract lock-in
    no BT line rental charge

Cons: Not much really apart from there is a one-off migration charge of up to £69 for existing broadband customers and for new broadband customers it's free and you get a free modem. And there is a £70 cancellation fee if you quit the broadband within the first 12 months

As far as I'm aware this is an absolute market leader at the moment and has taken the Broadband & Phone bundled product to a new level of value for money and convenience for the user.

Re: Who offers the cheapest broadband?

Namesco are offering a new broadband deal that would have been considered bonkers a few months ago.

For a £60 connection fee users can sign up to get a 512Kb connection and 2Gb download cap, (and £1 per Gb over 2Gb cap) for no monthly fee, (plus free modem router). It's on a 12 month contract and once that period finishes it reverts to a highly competitive £10.95 a month.

This market leading package is to celebrate Namesco's 10th Birthday and as far as we're aware you can't really get broadband much cheaper than this at the moment, and even though it's quite a slow speed, 512Kb is ample for the light user and for £5 a month in the first year an absolute bargain.

Re: Who offers the cheapest broadband?

I'll start the ball rolling by giving you a heads up on the cheapest broadband deals at the moment.

AOL Silver is currently £13.74 a month for a 1Mb speed connection and no download limit (i.e. when you apply online the first month is free and it then reverts to £14.99 a mth) also offering a free wireless modem worth £55 and a freephone customer / technical support line.

AOL is going through a lot of changes at the moment such as introducing a service which doesn't rely on the walled garden effect on your web browser. With a fresh approach and such a competitive deal it's no wonder this offer is flying off the shelves.

BT Total Broadband is another good deal because of the sheer amount of free minutes, software and hardware you get as part of the package, (well over £300 worth of free stuff). Since yesterday they've re-priced their products to reflect 12 and 18 month contract lengths. If you don't mind sticking to an 18 month contract their Option 2 is now priced at an average first year monthly cost of £18.99 a month, (£14.99 for 6 mths then £22.99 for 12 months).

With it you get free evening / weekend calls, free BT home hub, 250 free wi-fi minutes/month, a Norton security package and 11 email addresses, plus with the home hub you get the option of using BT Fusion (connect your mobile to the hub to make free or cheap calls using VOIP) and then Internet TV services later this year.

The highest profile new deal at the moment is Sky Broadband and no wonder.

If you're an existing Sky Digital customer the 2Mb service is free, (although there's a £40 set up fee). For an extra £5 a month you can get speeds up to 8Mb and 40Gb cap or for £10 a month you can get an amazing 16Mb speed and unlimited downloads, (fair use) but this is only available in limited areas in the UK. You can also pay an extra £5 a month to get free call to UK landlines using Sky Talk.

If you know of any other cheap deals let us know, we're constantly scouring the market to find you the cheapest deals and if you know of any deals we've missed we'd appreciate it as would our other users.

    Who offers the cheapest broadband?

There's no easy answer to this question because as well as new broadband launches, (such as Sky Broadband last week) existing providers also have a habit of changing their pricing on a fairly regular basis.

This thread will try to keep you all informed of the cheapest deals out there at the moment. Our aim will be to alert you to the cheapest deals or highlight new ones listed on our site. Because we speak to broadband providers on a regular basis we sometimes negotiate exclusive deals which are market-leading. Please watch this space or visit the main broadband channel to keep you updated.

But moneysupermarket.com can't always be on top of all the cheapest deals, all of the time.

We want YOU to inform us of any cheap deals you might have discovered which you think we need to know about, and that also includes bundled products such as broadband / phone.
