Who is the best car insurance company for service??

Im hopefully gonna kick off a huge debate here.

Nothing to with price,i want to know who thinks which insurance comapny is the best and why

Thinking of buying my wife a car soon as she passes her test, not too bothered about price to pay as i feel service plays a bigger part on making my decision.

Re: Who is the best car insurance company for service??

I have been with Direct Line for years now and have never had a problem. 3 claims...not my fault...all dealt with immediately. Named drivers can build up their own bonuses and whenever I need the kids to drive my cars it's just one phone call and they are on from 1 week to one month at a time at a reasonable price. So they get my vote from experience.

Named driver bonus is useless, but Direct Line are generally good for claims although they only give a maximum of 5 years no claims bonus.

There are plenty of good companies out there, depending on the type of driver so it's pretty broad. Generally though I'd say Groupama, Royal and Sun Alliance (underwriting terms only), Fortis (certain schemes only), AIG and Service. Not always competitive, but then you can't put a price on service. Although most will, then moan about it after!

"Named driver useless" please explain? Bearing in mind that the named driver now has 4 years no claims behind them and will insure themselves with Direct Line. Also you can have 20 years no claims but you will only be offered a maximum discount, usually 60% and the 5 years will reach this figure.

This has been explained on another thread. Even if he is with Direct Line for a further 4 years (which will work out very expensive), he won't leave with 8, he will leave with 4! The why's and wherefores are mentioned on the other thread, to which I cannot locate the link.

Re: Who is the best car insurance company for service??

I can understand that if someone has a 4 year associated no claims then another insurer may not recognize it, that is why I stated that the bonus earner would stay with Direct Line. I have tried to obtain quotes from other providers but it really gets messy when you start all over again, at least DL have all my details year to year so there can be no back tracking in the event of a claim as seems to be the norm nowadays. The service as I have said is very good, get through on the phone straight away, never in 10 years made a boo boo with a direct debit, policy documentation is in plain English and the policy is very flexible. I have a number of vehicles that you can't drive all at the same time obviously, one call and the insurance is transferred for 7 days at a time and costs nothing unless I add one of the kids and it costs a tenner for the week.....not bad eh??

Re: Who is the best car insurance company for service??

No, that's not bad at all. I'm not disputing the service either but, in terms of saving, there would be more saving if he had his own no claims bonus opposed to being forced to stay with Direct Line in order to use the no claims bonus (which only go to a maximum of 5 years also!). Staying with the same company is notoriously more expensive, but if you are happy with the service then the saving is irrelevant! You can't put a price on service! :)
