Your contract was for a 2 hour lesson, so that is all you have to pay for. The driving instructor should not be asking for another 1/2 hour or reduce your next lesson. The only caveat to this is whether such an event is covered by any contract you have with BSM. You should check the details.

From memory when I was learning to drive, the driving instructor allowed some contigency time for traffic etc and on occasions some lessons did over run. But I was never asked for any extra payment.

Who is liable if a driving lesson overruns?

I recently had a 2 hour lesson with BSM overrrun by half an hour primarily because the instructor selected the wrong exit on a roundabout, and it took half an hour to get back to the same place as we hit heavy traffic. In this case am I liable to pay for another half an hour or to have half an hour deducted from my next lesson, and what is usual practice?

I guess that I did get another half hour of driving, so perhaps paying the extra is fair, but I would like to understand where I stand legally and it terms of accepted practice.

    Thanks,
