angus44:Hi,I recently spent about £2000 for air tickets and some accommodation in Australia where are going next Feb for about 38 days(including stopovers of 6 days) Should I buy single trip or annual insurance? We are both over 65 and have pre.existing conditions. Should I buy the insurance now or wait till nearer departure. Thanks
Buy it now so that you may be covered if you needed to cancel holiday due to serious illness or injury.
My advice is to arrange by phone, so that you can answer any questions about pre-existing medical conditions and can be advised about what cover you will have. You could also then be given quotes for both single and annual travel Insurance, so you can decide on the best option.
Because of your age, some Insurers will not provide annual travel insurance or limit it to those under 74. Also it will depend on the medical conditions as to whether they will cover. If one company does not cover, don't be put off shopping around, another company may offer cover, subject to increased premium.
The post office policy underwritten by Fortis is well rated by customers. They have a freephone helpline 0800 294 2292.
You should phone and get atleast 3 quotes and compare the cover/premium, before you decide.
