Re: Warm Home Discount briefing available now

I've got a letter now stating that the case file has been closed again and apparently I've agreed to take part in their customer satisfaction survey. I expect that, if the offices are to close in a couple of years, staff will have enough to worry about there.

I'll send the supplier another letter and investigate an alternative supply in the next few days.

If you can give me your complaint reference number then I'll check and find out what's happening.

Yes. I've not had any acknowledgements, replies or correspondence from them for a while.

I'm seriously considering putting up a wind generator just so that I wont have to rely on other people for my supply.

Yes, very much so. Although the Government intends to abolish Consumer Focus by April 2013 we are still charged with protecting consumer interest until that date. The current intentions suggest our functions will be taken over by Citizens Advice.

Consumer Direct is a seperate organisation, but they will also become part of Citizens Advice, as from early next year.

Do you have a particular query? Previously I understand you were dealing with our Extra Help Unit?

    Thanks

    Consumer Focus

Oh. I thought you'd closed your offices. Is Consumer Focus/Consumer Direct still working in the area of consumer/supplier disputes?

Warm Home Discount briefing available now

Consumer Focus has just published an updated briefing on the new Warm Home Discount scheme.

It is available here on our website: http://www.consumerfocus.org.uk/files/2010/01/Consumer-Focus-briefing-on-the-Warm-Home-Discount.pdf

We have produced this briefing to inform consumers, advice agencies and stakeholders on the details of the new Warm Home Discount. The Warm Home Discount will eventually completely replace social tariffs and existing voluntary arrangements which suppliers offer.

This is a follow-up on our original briefing earlier in the year on the subject. We have now been able to provide much more detail on how the scheme will work in practice, and have included specific pages for each of the big 6 suppliers in the document. In addition there is general advice on what consumers should expect from the scheme, and sources of assistance.

We hope this information will help consumers understand the scheme.

    Best regards

    Consumer Focus
