    Crying [:'(] virgin media packages

I am an existing customer of NTL (Virgin Media), having TV, broadband and phone and feel very unhappy that I cannot take up any of the packages that would save me at least £10 per month. I am sure there must be many people in the same situation

    Has anyone any suggestions??

Yes! I was in the same situation and actually found if i switched to sky it works out cheaper and better value for money than Virgin Media!

    Re: virgin media packages

Ring them and ask!  I did this as I was already an NTL phone and broadband customer and took up a tv package.  I was given incorrect information about the cost.   It took me from December to now to sort it out but after writing a few letters they finally rang and agreed to charge me half price for my tv package for 6 months.  Keep on at them, don't let them off the hook.  I know other people in your position who have also negotiated a better deal.

    Hi J Ham

Yes the best way to handle this is speak to their retention team - explain what you want and basically say if I can't get what I want then I'm off. Ultimately it's up to them how they handle this, they can offer you what you want or let you switch to someone else who can.

    Cheers

    Re: virgin media packages

We got a letter from Virgin telling us of a new phone number for sorting problems. an 090 number costing 25p per min. plus a connection charge of 10p.   TO SORT OUT PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BROADBAND PROBABLY OF THEIR OWN MAKING.

    Now looking to change providers.

    Re: virgin media packages

I've been trying unsuccessfully to sign-up to Virgin's phone and broadband package for four weeks now but after endless phone calls to find out when they might install, I've just been told by another arrogant member of their customer "satisfaction" team they can't provide any services because there aren't any cables one the road where I live.

This is despite being told by the website that I was in a cable area and being told by members of staff that an installation date would be confirmed "shortly".

When I asked when they were planning on telling me this they replied with: "we'd have got round to it soon but we're really busy at the moment."

DO NOT USE VIRGIN MEDIA - THEY ARE AN ABSOLUTE SHOWER AND HAVE NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS.

    Re: virgin media packages

I have just rung them, as i do from time to time, to say I am not happy with what I am paying, given all these cheap deals they are offering.  My last bill was £68 per month, and the one before £54.  I have landline, tv and broadband.  They have just offered me £42 a month  for LIFE plus an upgrade on broadband speed to 4mg.  For this deal I have to agree to stay with them another year.  Thus now I have my landline, with free voicemail, the TV XL package, Broadband M, all for £42 ;-)

    Re: virgin media packages

I rang Virgin 18 months ago to cancel my broadband account finding it relatively slow as I was supposedly paying for 4mb.

They asked me why I was leaving and when I replied it was because they were too expensive they said they would put me on this package for £22 a month.  What they did not say was that it would only last 6 months before they charged me £35 per month as it was a special offer.

I checked my bill sometime later to find that it had increased by 50%.  I rang them to query it and was told that was the price, I had already had one special offer and was not entitled to another one.

The answer ----- I left them and have not looked back!!!!!!

Perhaps they should take a good hard look at themselves and do what the mobile phone companies did a few years ago i.e. becoming more competitive and stop ripping people off by disinforming them!!!!!!

    Re: virgin media packages

I pay Virgin £59.50 per month for basic tv package, 2x phone lines (both with caller id and voicemail) and 4mb broadband.

Called them today as a direct result of reading this thread. Dialled 150 and followed options to "if you are thinking of cancelling". Spoke to bloke and asked him what process was to cancel.
"30 days notice" he said and asked why.
"Much too expensive" I said. First he said he might be able to reduce it by £5.50 by changing something or other with tv package.
I said "£5.50 less was no use" as I had 2 other providers offering me similar or better service for £30-£40 (ok so I lied).

Within a minute he offered same stuff but slightly different TV package for £32.50. There were 2 conditions (1) starts another 12 month term - 7 day cooling off period though, (2) 9 channels less which were UKTV Gold, CNN and 7 others I've never heard of..so I'm happier now.

    Kind Regards,

    Pat Farrell

Watch out - you may find that you also have to take out a mortgage with Northern Rock as well ...
