Virgin Media Moving House Cancellation Charges - New Landlord won't switch.

    Hi all,

I am sure this issue has been raised in this forum before, but I just can't seem to find my specific problem.

    Here's the story :

I have been with Virgin Media for many years now - apart from a few teething troubles initially, the service has been without fault.

I moved house 6 months ago, to a rented property - without hesitation, transfered the Virgin account. A few more teething troubles and all has been well, nothing to compain about ..... so-far!

I am moving home again due to work commitments (friends say I'm part Gypsie!) - Because I am only 6 months into the new 12 month contract, Virgin want to levy a hefty cancellation fee.
I cannot transfer the services to my new property, as the Landlord doesn't want to move from the Talk Talk service that he is providing - in addition, I am moving to a non-cabled area, so, as far as I can figure, I would have to move the services from Talk Talk, take out line rental with BT, then transfer the cable services!!!!! - This is never going to go smoothly methinks!!!!

To cap it all, BT aren't interested, as this move is only for around 6 months (I've only signed a 6 month lease with the landlord) - then I plan to settle permanently - probably in the same area.

I feel stuck here - I'm going to be charged for services I cannot get ! And I am concerned that I may loose services if I start switching things about - I cannot do without internet or phone, my employment depends on it.

Given the option, I would transfer the Virgin account without hesitation (better the Devil you know!) but it just doesn't seem possible.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience of this situation, and advice would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi

I would just ask Virgin to confirm which part of the contract details the cancellation charges. You can then review these and decide whether they are fair/unfair. I am a Virgin Media customer and I have not read anything about such charges. Also not mentioned on their website.

Virgin Media cannot make such a charge unless it is clearly detailed in the contract between you.
